Interview with Dom Howard to ¡Hey!

Next Dom`s interview is for Mexican`s newspaper, El Milenio and Reforma, talks about "Being the best live band in the world", Mexican shows and plans for next year.

La legendaria agrupación, que prepara su regreso a nuestro país en el mes de octubre, está segura de que su permanencia dentro del gusto del público se debe exclusivamente a su trabajo.
"A pesar de lo avasallador que pueden ser la fama o el éxito, todo es efímero, realmente lo único que queda al final es demostrar tu talento. Esa fue nuestra meta desde el principio y lo hemos conseguido, que el público sepa que nuestro talento es capaz de hacernos sobresalir" declaró Dominic Howard, integrante de Muse, para ¡Hey!
Lamentando que las nuevas figuras de la música pretendan destacar a base de escándalos o estrambóticas formas de bailar, el baterista de la banda confía en que algún lugar del mundo aún debe existir alguien que piense como ellos.
"Talento siempre hay, solo es cuestión de que salga a la luz. Me incomoda ver esas escenas de algunos artistas que en lugar de ponerse a trabajar se concentran en hacer escándalos para que hablen de ellos. Está claro que los tiempos cambian; sin embargo, las ganas de trabajar o de hacer música que realmente valga la pena no se deben pasar por alto" menciono Howard.
Entusiasmado por su próxima serie de presentaciones en nuestro país, el músico de 35 años aseguró que guarda gratos momentos ee sus anteriores visitas.
"Siempre la pasamos increíble, yo creo que es algo que todos los artistas dicen pero en nuestro caso es verdad, cada que estamos en México es como si estuviéramos en casa. La música, la cultura, la comida, todo nos encanta" aseguró el baterista.
Concentrados en esta gira que los ha llevado a visitar gran parte del globo terráqueo, Muse ha tomado unos días de reposo para reactivar su energía en suelo mexicano; primero en Guadalajara, después Monterrey y por último en el Distrito Federal.
"Los mexicanos están locos. Pero locos en el buen sentido, es como un sueño tocar frente a los fans de ese país, porque realmente te inyectan toda esa pasión, todos sus gritos. Recuerdo que la primera vez que estuvimos allá nos sorprendió su manera de brincar durante todo el espectáculo" contó Howard.
Desafortunadamente para los seguidores de hueso colorado de esta agrupación, Muse aún no tiene planes concretos para editar un nuevo material discográfico luego de la buena aceptación que registró su última entrega, The 2nd Law.
"Siempre estamos creando y pensando que podemos hacer para seguir en el gusto del público; sin embargo, aún no puedo darte una fecha exacta para entrar al estudio. Todavía tenemos fechas por cumplir", dijo.
Tras las actuaciones que ofrecerán en el país, el proyecto mas próximo de la banda será lanzar mundialmente el concierto que filmaron en Italia.
"Será una megaproducción porque está grabada aun con mayor calidad que un simple DVD. Seguro que haremos historia con este material que no solo los fanáticos estaban esperando, también nosotros" agregó Howard.

Muse actuara el 7 de Octubre en Guadalajara, el 9 del mismo mes en Monterrey y concluirá en la Cd de México con cuatro conciertos programados para el 18,19,20 y 22 de Octubre.

We always have amazing time, I think it's something all artists say but, in our case, it's true , every time we are in Mexico is as if we were at home. The music, the culture, the food, everything we love " said the drummer.Concentrate on this tour that has taken them to visit much of the globe , Muse has taken a few days of rest to revive they`re energy on Mexican soil , first in Guadalajara, them Monterrey and finally the Distrito Federal (Mexico City).
"Mexicans are crazy. But crazy in a good way, it's like a dream to play in front of fans in this country, because you really inject all that passion, all their cries. Remember the first time we were there, we surprised they`re way to jump throughout the show "Howard said.
Unfortunately for the diehard fans of this group, Muse still has no concrete plans to publish a new album after the excellent reception recorded his latest release, The 2nd Law.
"We are always creating and thinking we can do to keep in the public taste, but I can not yet give an exact date to enter the studio. Still have dates to meet," he said.
After the actions offered in the country, the project nearest the band will launch worldwide on concert filmed in Italy.
"It will be a blockbuster because it is recorded even higher quality than a simple DVD. Sure we`ll make history with this material that not only the fans are waiting for, we too" added Howard.

Mientras preparan su regreso a México para dar seis conciertos, los integrantes de Muse se sienten muy cómodos al ostentar el reconocimiento de la banda en vivo más grande del planeta.
La falsa modestia no los distingue, considera el baterista Dominic Howard, pues el sonido del grupo ha sido asociado por críticos, expertos y fans a la excentricidad y grandilocuencia. En honor a la verdad, el trío británico ha ganado varios galardones por sus actos en vivo, desde premios MTV hasta Brit Awards, Q Awards y NME Awards.
"Me encanta (ese calificativo), es grandioso que nos consideren la mayor banda en vivo del mundo.

Somos muy afortunados de poder hacer esto en distintos países", reconoció en entrevista Howard.
"Con nuestro primer álbum (Showbiz, 1999) éramos una típica banda en vivo, y de repente, a partir del segundo (Origin of Symmetry, 2001) cambiamos, nos volvimos mejores, más cool, y nos dimos cuenta de lo que queríamos lograr.
"Ofrecer grandes conciertos siempre es muy importante para nosotros, y se trata de ir evolucionando, porque ya tenemos muchos años tocando. Muchas cosas pasan en un show; tienes que cambiar, porque si no será una basura".
La banda que completan Matt Bellamy (voz, guitarra y teclados) y Chris Wolstenholme (bajo y coros) traerá The 2nd Law World Tour al Palacio de los Deportes el 18, 19, 20 y 22 de octubre, luego de presentarse en la Arena VFG (7) y la Arena Monterrey (9) y viajar a festivales en Austin, Texas, y Buenos Aires.
Su producción escénica no será la que llevaron a estadios, sino a recintos techados y arenas, encabezada por una pirámide invertida que los fans ya han podido conocer en portales como YouTube. Además de la pirámide, que gradualmente va engullendo a la banda, habrá efectos especiales, pantallas de leds y juegos de láser a tono con el rock espacial y épico del grupo.
Muse es una banda con inclinaciones a lo operístico y sinfónico, pero Howard dice que eso no es todo lo que tienen para ofrecer, y lanza la promesa de que su próximo paso quizás sea menos estruendoso.
"Sería bueno vivir la experiencia de tener shows pequeños. Tuvimos un par de tocadas así recientemente en Londres, en pequeños recintos, y fue una buena experiencia, mucho más íntima con los fans. Quizás la próxima vez hagamos ese tipo de gira", declaró.
El recital enmarca su más reciente álbum, The 2nd Law, el cual para el músico es una especie de reflexión basada en la segunda ley de la termodinámica, concepto físico adaptado en este caso a una fábula sobre la energía, la extinción y el consumo.
"Es algo que Matt sugirió en el estudio, usar un tipo de analogía con algunas de las canciones, especialmente 'The 2nd Law: Unsustainable', hablar un poco sobre la energía alrededor de nuestras vidas, encontrar la forma de sobrevivir en el universo, sobre lo que afecta al ser humano.
"Queríamos demostrar cómo el instinto humano está luchando constantemente contra eso, tratando de evitar lo inevitable, pensando sobre el futuro".
La demanda por ver a Muse en el DF fue tal que sucesivamente se agotaron los boletos de tres fechas en el Palacio de los Deportes, hasta abrirse una cuarta (22 de octubre), algo que emociona a Dominic Howard.
"Estoy sorprendido, quizás sea el mayor número de veces que tocamos en un mismo lugar. Estamos muy emocionados por ir a tocar para los fans mexicanos. México ha sido un País muy importante para nosotros.
"El público mexicano es muy ruidoso, brinca todo el tiempo. Recuerdo un show en la Ciudad de México y el público cimbró todo el lugar, y, de hecho, se sintió como un terremoto; uno pequeño, claro. Todo comenzó a temblar; recuerdo que tienen mucha energía".

Demand for Muse in Mexico City was such that tickets they sold out on three dates at the Palacio de los Deportes, to open fourth ( October 22 ) , something that excites Dominic Howard."I am surprised , perhaps the greatest number of times we played in the same place . We`re very excited about going to play for the Mexican fans . Mexico has been an important country for us." The Mexican public is very loud , jump all the time. Remember a show in Mexico City and the audience rocked all over the place , and in fact , it felt like an earthquake, a small one , of course. All began to tremble ; I remember having a lot of energy. "
